For SEO purposes, plain black text on a white background is optimal for your readers and easy for the Googlebots to read. But your homepage should have some sort of wow factor. Color sets a mood for people. If your colors are dull, you might not want to convey happiness. You might even have a gothic or emo blog. (Nothing wrong with that!)

There are some colorful wordpress themes out there, but the one that I like the best is the ColorMatic theme. Even if you don’t want a colorful wordpress theme, you can customize this theme any way you want. You don’t have to mess around with CSS stylesheets if you want a professional looking colorful wordpress theme.

This colorful wordpress theme also has it’s own control panel so you can easily insert ads, widgets, some SEO and tracking script if you want.
